Essex & Crane

Essex & Crane is a transit-oriented residential community developed by Russo Development and designed by MHS Architecture, located at 377 Crane Street in Orange, New Jersey, directly adjacent to the NJ Transit Orange train station. Essex & Crane introduces 209 apartment homes, ranging from studios to three-bedroom units, in a highly connected commuter-focused location on a uniquely shaped site.

Designed to respond to its infrastructure-driven context, the building features two distinct façades. The highway-facing elevation incorporates long, curved metal panels that create a strong visual identity and act as a recognizable billboard for the project. The train-facing side was designed with warmer materials to better engage residents as they arrive home from their daily commute.

Essex & Crane includes approximately 23,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity space, supporting a modern lifestyle with flexible work-from-home areas, fitness and wellness spaces, and shared social environments. The project also includes structured parking and multifunctional common areas that enhance day-to-day living.
